The Riggo Rookie Scholarship

Minority CRE Professional Advancement

Summary

Those entering the hypercompetitive field of Commercial Real Estate Brokerage would be wise to reflect on the line made famous by the late motivational speaker Jim Rohn.

“We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with.”

Successful CRE Brokers are richly rewarded but the competitiveness starts even before landing a spot with a firm. It takes 6 to 9 months of interviewing with different individuals, teams, and companies before you land at the right commercial real estate brokerage, and it paramount to know who to speak to and what to say when you get in front of them.

Challenge

These high stakes mean that making a bad choice can cost you months or years of your life and thousands of dollars of forgone income.  It’s important to land with a firm that has:

Solution

In Session 1 you will discuss:

  • Your motives for choosing this field
  • Who you have interviewed with so far
  • What you bring to the table
  • Your existing emotional and financial support system
  • And much more, depending on your individual situation

In Session 2 (3-6 weeks after you’ve been hired) you will discuss:

  • How you’re fitting in
  • What you’ve accomplished
  • What you’ve learned
  • Your next steps
  • And much more, depending on your individual situation

Candidate

The Riggo Rookie Scholarship will be awarded to two deserving recipients and is committed to advancing the professional growth of underrepresented groups in the commercial real estate industry by offering budding "rookie" minority commercial real estate landlord and tenant representatives who want to enhance their personal skills and improve business practices a personal performance coaching relationship focused on acting toward the realization of the vision or goal of the scholarship recipient.

The ideal candidate for this scholarship would be someone currently in the interview process and reasonably close to selecting a commercial real estate brokerage firm.  Recipients will spend two 1-hour one-on-one sessions with Ed “Riggo” Riggins via Zoom or phone.
